Abstract:
The national property of Russian psychological science — a textbook by Professor G. Chelpanov on psychology for secondary schools (gymnasiums), theological seminaries and self-education — was compiled by the Scientific Committee of the Ministry of Public Education and awarded the Great Prize of Emperor Peter the Great. The first edition was carried out in 1906. It contains 38 chapters on main problems of psychology within concrete historical period, such as: psyche, ranges of perception, ideas formation, mechanisms of memory and attention, will and self-awareness, speech and judgment, morality and empathy basics. Through this totality, the author reveals his concept of human psychology, as an empirical science of the laws of mental life. It is argued, that subject of psychology is the mental state of consciousness, that are, the ability to see, hear, feel joy or suffering, make decisions et al. The classification of mental phenomena in three classes is given: cognition, feeling, expression of will is done here. The importance of knowledge of the comparative psychology of nations (ethnic aspect), animals, children while aging, obtained in observation and self-observation, is indicated here too.
