Abstract:
The discussed phenomenon cannot be fully understood within the framework of one field of one discipline and scientific direction. It requires a multifaceted study at the intersection of psychology and medicine. Domestic studies of transsexualism, in contrast to foreign ones, are more interdisciplinary and focused on applied problems related to the differential diagnosis of controversial conditions and rehabilitation and adaptation problems. Foreign clinicians more often focus on individual psychological tests and procedures, interpreting them formally. They have more opportunities for use high-tech research methods such as magnetic resonance imaging.
