Abstract:
In her textbook, author gives a historical retrospective of the theater development as cultural phenomenon. Here are Generalized ideas about the theater of different cultural eras — from antiquity to the present, as well as of different geographical cultural spaces - America and Europe. The corresponding trajectories for the development of the theater culture, with it`s trends and key achievements of world significance, have been built here. Then, the features of national theaters formation in period from 18th to 20th centuries are considered. It is emphasized, that the path of development of European theater is extremely heterogeneous. At the same time, the logic of theater evolution corresponds to the logic of the development of European and Russian culture at all. It embodies ideological and political, religious, spiritual, scientific and technical, social achievements and contradictions, transforming and formalizing, in turn, full-scale value dominants of various stages and periods of cultural development. Thus, the influence of historical cultural traditions on theater and theater on culture is mutually significant and undeniable.
