Abstract:
Spatial self-image, as an aspect of child`s self-awareness was investigated here. A spatial self-image structure was also proposed, being based on three basic bodily feelings (touch of one`s body, one`s own movement and own balance). It was shown, that at an early age level of development of oneself spatial image correlates with indicators of mental development (objective activity, cognitive activity, communication and speech). Variants of spatial image of oneself development are determined here by the ratio of connecting and separating functions of the boundary of own bodily «I am». Some weakening of the separating function of such boundary is expressed in hypertrophied sensitivity and reduced contact with outside world. Some weakening of the connecting function of boundary is expressed in a reduced sensitivity to own experience and external influences. A high level of self-image development is possible only with balance and sufficient expression of connecting and dividing functions of boundary of physical «I am». An effective method of developing the spatial image of oneself is system of sensory-motor games that activate the formation of basic bodily feelings.
