Kondrashkin. [Motivation and needs sphere of adolescents in different social situations of development: Ph. D. (Psychology) Thesis]

Abstract:
The work is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of the motivation and needs sphere of adolescents in social situations of development of various types. The authors assumed that its content is associated with different types of social development situation, formed under the influence of age, regional and adaptation factors. In the empirical part of the work the following techniques were applied: "Focused interview" (author`s techniques, necessary for studying the assessment of the social situation of adolescent development), "Test of meaning-life orientations" (adaptation of D. A. Leontiev (necessary for diagnosing meaning-life orientations, defined as an individual`s experience of the significance of life)), "Method of paired comparisons" (V. V. Skvortsov) — measures the relative satisfaction of basic needs, "Method of motivational induction" (by J. Nytten, adapted by N. N. Tolstykh): the study of motivation using unfinished sentences. 174 adolescents (age from 11 to 17 years) participated in the survey. All of them were school students (Moscow and Voronezh), or first-year college students. As a result of the study, it was found that from younger to older adolescence there is an increase in the integration of the motivational-consumption sphere, adolescents from different regions have different features of the motivational-consumption sphere, the content components of the motivational-consumption sphere of adolescents are associated with socio-psychological adaptation (disadaptation).
