Abstract:
This dissertation examines the factors influencing the readiness of contemporary Russian students to form families. Based on a survey of 180 students from Moscow and Omsk, the author identifies key components of socio-psychological readiness, such as emotional attachment, problem-solving skills, and traditional and modern views on family roles. The study reveals significant gender and regional differences in these components, with women generally demonstrating a higher level of readiness compared to men. Furthermore, the research highlights the importance of socio-cultural factors and the role of higher education in shaping attitudes towards family and marriage. The findings indicate that a majority of students expressed a strong desire to start families, women exhibited greater readiness compared to men, students from different regions displayed distinct attitudes towards family and marriage, and emotional connection with a partner was identified as a crucial factor in readiness to form a family. Additionally, the study found that students held both traditional and modern views on family roles and responsibilities. The author proposes practical recommendations for educational programs aimed at enhancing the socio-psychological readiness of young people for family life.
