Abstract:
This dissertation explores the personal meaning-making sphere of older adults experiencing old age in various life situations. The work provides a comprehensive analysis of the psychological characteristics of aging, its age boundaries, and its role in personal development, taking into account the social and cultural context. Particular attention is paid to the adaptation processes characteristic of older people, as well as the influence of living conditions — at home and in a gerontological center — on the formation of their personal attitudes and value orientations. The study revealed regional differences in emotional background, levels of depression, subjective loneliness, and meaning in life. Methods for assessing the personal-semantic sphere were tested, which made it possible to determine the characteristic features of psychological adaptation in old age and their dependence on the conditions of the social environment. The work represents a significant theoretical and practical contribution to the field of gerontology and developmental psychology, expanding the understanding of the variability of crisis phenomena and mechanisms for overcoming them in old age.
