Abstract:
This dissertation analyzes the phenomenon of conspicuous consumption in the context of social status development among high school and university students. The study identifies key theoretical approaches to defining conspicuous consumption and its relationship to social identity and gender characteristics. Based on empirical data, it has been established that conspicuous consumption of high school students and students, as a special form of consumer behavior, has different expressions (greater or lesser focus on prestigious consumption), determined by social, socio-psychological and personal factors.
