Abstract:
The paper demonstrates the results of a research of mother-child interaction based on analysing video records of their free play in 90 mother-child dyads (spontaneous conception) and in 77 dyads (in vitro fertilization (IVF). In both groups the age of children at the time of the study was between 12 and 37 months. We used diagnosis of dyadic interaction based on video records analysis of mother-child free play (M. E. Lantsburg), interviews with mothers and medical history data. The research shows that for women conceived through IVF (compared to women conceived spontaneously) interaction with their children shows less sensitivity and responsiveness together with weaker subject-oriented attitude to the child. In mother-child dyads in the case of IVF-conception use of both verbal and non-verbal means of communication is less often, compared to spontaneous conception case.
