Abstract:
The article presents a review of scientific studies carried out in Germany and concerning various aspects of teenage pregnancy and early maternity. The article is based on investigation carried out by Sabina Bill and first published in 2006 by Hamburg Institute of Applied Sciences (Germany). It regards the reasons and consequences of teenage pregnancy, discusses criteria of young mothers' decisions to give or not to give birth to their children, discloses young mothers' pro and con views on maternity. The article also gives examples of practice-related activity of some counseling centers in Germany specializing in teenage pregnancy and early maternity and examples of school practice in Hamburg aimed at youths' sex education.
