Abstract:
The article is devoted to overview studies of quality of life in people with physical disabilities. The scientists are mainly focused on the health limitations as affecting their quality of life. As a fact, disabled people need regular medical help, procedures of rehabilitation and prophylaxis of medical consequences of their disability. This paper addresses the subject from the perspective of positive approaches to development of personality and quality of life in people with disabilities. Positive psychology is proposed as an alternative to traditional clinical approach to health examination. It provides further understanding of personality as a mediator of impact of external conditions on subjective well-being and quality of life in people with physical disabilities.
