Odintsova, Tishchenko. [The study of latent extremism in the educational environment of colleges]

Abstract:
The article considers extremist sentiments, opinions of students about ethno-cultural and religious differences, psychological abuse cases that contribute to the development of latent extremism in the educational environment of colleges. The empirical basis of the study is poll involving 1034 students in 23 Moscow colleges. The authors single out three risk groups involving students who think that persecution of migrants and students of other nationalities and representatives of different religions exist in their college and students who have strong antipathy towards people of different religion or ethnicity. The authors prove that the interpersonal communications related to suppression, indifference, rejection, or humiliation can be traumatic and can cause deviations such as extremist actions.
