Abstract:
The author considers intellect as a special coping resource, which is involved in processes of situations pre-treatment and coping strategies modeling. Among children 9 years old, it contributes to more productive and more plasticity difficulties overcoming and is focused on real situation and own personality traits. These children are more likely to choose the strategy of "solving the problem", "positive focus" and less often — emotional and social coping. It was found a positive association between the level of intellectual development and self-indication "Targeting" and "Planning" connected with self-regulation. The problem is debatable about ties of intelligence and preferences in choice of coping strategies. Empirical results were forced to admit, that the intellect ones has no direct relation to the regulation of coping or, that is more paradoxically, predisposes not only to productive problem-oriented, but to unproductive emotional and social coping strategies.
