Abstract:
The textbook presents the topic of children`s participation in decisions affecting them in a detailed and thorough manner. Children`s participation in decision-making is seen as a key principle of child protection and development-oriented policies. Legal, ethical, psychological and pedagogical aspects of children`s participation are covered. Particular attention is paid to theories that rethink the phenomenon of childhood and the cultural and historical contexts in which the issue of children's participation in decision-making processes is raised. The textbook discusses participatory evaluation practices and participatory design with children. Issues and challenges of participation in decision-making for children from vulnerable groups, including children in orphanages and children with disabilities, are addressed. The textbook is addressed to students of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs studying in psychology, pedagogy, sociology and other specialties and aimed at further professional work with children and families, as well as to a wide range of professionals involved in the field of childhood.
