Abstract:
The goal of the empirical study was to identify the relations between cyberbullying and the behavior of adolescents in social networks. The sample consisted of 76 adolescents aged 12 to 16 years (M =14, 0 ± 0.36). The results of studies on the similar topics obtained by the author on similar samples in 2017 and 2018 were used for comparison. Survey methods included an adapted scale for evaluation of adolescents` involvement in cyberbullying (1), an adapted scale for the assessments of the degree of involvement in activity on the Internet and social networks (2), the inventory for diagnostic of tendencies to aggression by Buss-Perry (3). On the basis of comparative analysis of trends in the adolescents’ use of the Internet in 2017–2019 the stability of these tendencies was established with the predominance of communication and entertainment orientation of adolescents’ behavior, as well as the relative stability of the indicators of adolescents’ participation in cyberbullying and attitudes towards this phenomenon. Correlations between cyberbullying and the main types of orientation of the behavior of adolescents in social networks were revealed. Correlations between cyberbullying, the degree of involvement in social networks and the various components of aggression in adolescents were found. Recommendations for diagnostics of adolescents’ inclination to cyberbullying in social networks were formulated.
