Abstract:
Work on self-organization at the II Moscow Institute of the Deaf and Dumb began with self-service. The most common phenomena of a child`s life were discussed with the children; children were shown that it is possible to perform a task in an organized and unorganized way, that it is better, easier and faster to carry out work in an organized manner. At first, very simple questions are resolved by the children's team; over time, the interests of children go beyond the daily life of the institution, beyond its walls; accordingly, self-organization becomes more complex both in content and form. The process of assimilation of social functions proceeds extremely slowly in deaf-mutes. However, it is not necessary to speed up the pace of work, and with it the development of self-organization, as there will be an excessive pile without a thorough consolidation of social skills. By taking part in the social life of the institution, children soon come to understand that they can react in one way or another to the phenomena of the wider social environment outside the institution and tend to connect with it.
