Abstract:
This article focuses on studying autonomous regulation of activity in third graders, as well as mutual influencing of anxiety, autonomy and self-esteem. Relative autonomy index (RAI) in both academic and non-academic activities was evaluated with the help of Academic Self-Regulation Questionnaire (SRQ-A) and General Causality Orientation Scale (GCOS). Self-esteem was measured using the Dembo-Rubinstein scale. Children`s Manifest Anxiety Scale (CMAS) was used to determine manifest anxiety. Among the 60 children that participated in the study predominant autonomy in non-ed activities, adequate self-esteem and increased anxiety were determined. A clear relationship between autonomy and self-esteem is established. A negative relationship is found to be present between autonomy in academic activities and general causality orientation.
