Abstract:
The concept of the doctrine of overcompensation is presented here. It is emphasized, that overcompensation plays a key role in human life: the difficulty of a function is a stimulus for its improvement. Adler`s law on the dialectical transformation of organic inferiority through low value into mental aspirations for compensation and overcompensation is considered here too. Our ideal is to open the child to overcoming the defect, to give the resources of his overcompensation the widest possible path. To do this, we need to assimilate the social orientation of these processes. The perspective of future, introduced by this doctrine into the understanding of psychological processes, brings us to individual psychological pedagogy. For the theory and practice of raising a child with hearing and vision defects, the doctrine of overcompensation is of fundamental importance. What prospects open up for a teacher, when he finds out that a defect is not only a minus, shortcoming, weakness, but also a plus, a source of strength and ability, that it has a positive meaning!
