Abstract:
Lip-reading should be learned as early as possible, even if there is still some leftover hearing. Weakened hearing is not overworked by having lip — reading as an assistant, and thanks to this, the general state of tension is relieved. A consistent and detailed lesson plan for lip reading is given. Training begins with the pronunciation of vowel sounds, as the most stable and easily perceived by sight elements of speech; then come combinations with consonants — syllables. At the beginning there is no need for pronunciation of words — such exercises could distract the beginner from the main task — automatic imitation of the teacher`s speech. If automatic joint pronunciation becomes a habit and is firmly fixed, then the goal will be achieved — in the hands of the student will be the key to understanding meaningful speech. The duration of each lesson should be adjusted to the strength of the student; at first, you can`t do more than half an hour, and then with breaks. As the student gets used to lip reading, the lesson can be extended up to 1 hour. It takes about 2 months to complete the entire course under the best conditions (daily classes).
