Abstract:
Using the example of the Smolensk School for Blind, the role of direct examination of objects by blind children with the help of hearing, touch, etc. is discussed here. In cases where this is possible, — a blind student must be put in position of a researcher, developing in him the ability of independent observation, criticism and creativity. Without these skills, after graduating from school, the blind will be helpless. The conditions of education in schools for the blind (subject classrooms, the availability of items for examination and their parameters) are listed. The requirements for the design of educational premises as a whole (walls) are substantiated. The construction of labor education is discussed. Frequent excursions with blind children are also of great importance in relation to the topographic orientation of the blind: children gradually get used to moving independently in unfamiliar places and under the most diverse conditions. Constant excursion work with the blind, who are prone to a sedentary life, is undoubtedly of great importance for physical education.
