Abstract:
Ideas about the structure of the middle ear and the functional significance of each anatomical component are given. Explanations of the mechanism of sound perception and its disturbance, the consequence of which is deaf-mutism, are given. Explanations are given for the care of newborns and recommendations for protecting the child from colds, maintaining a comfortable temperature in the room, and bathing. Noise and screams should be eliminated. Cold hardening is recommended starting from six months of life. Walking barefoot is a special preventive measure. The author warns against the risk of child`s manipulations with small objects (putting into the ears and nose), insists on compliance with the requirements of oral hygiene. Warnings also apply to the dangers of rough physical contact — slaps, blows to the ear, kisses to the ear lead to rupture of the membrane, hemorrhage, concussion of the labyrinth, sometimes with eternal deafness; and tearing behind the ears causes damage to the shell. Deafness is acquired most often in the first year of life. To blame for deafness, first of all, parents who do not follow their hearing from the very first months.
