Abstract:
[The problem of attitudes towards a defect was analyzed by us in 1988-1997, based on parent-child relationships in families of patients with stuttering. It was shown that in the emergence and consolidation of stuttering, some personal and speech characteristics of parents, are important. Probably, there are special psychological mechanisms for emergence, consolidation and development of stuttering, as a translation path of pathological behavioral structures from parents to children. The pathological nature of family relations is a main factor that inhibits correction in process of direct treatment, and after its termination it can cause a relapse in a short time, especially in case of neuropsychiatric diseases. Parents and teachers now are more focused on the shortcomings of their pupils, and they are too much less concerned with how adequate they themselves are in assessing these "shortcomings", which are sometimes manifestations of exclusivity and originality. It is also important to take into account how the child himself relates to his own shortcomings and "non-standard".]
