Abstract:
The problem of aggression is acute in modern society. Armed clashes in various parts of the world are becoming commonplace. The use of force to resolve conflicts and contradictions is often postulated as an acceptable, legitimate and effective measure. Violence is present in television reports, films and computer games. All this constitutes a significant part of the social situation of the modern child`s development. At the same time, the safety of children in the educational environment is one of the main concerns of today`s parents, teachers, educators, psychologists, educational authorities, and the state as a whole. Schools are protected from external threats by guards, turnstiles, metal detectors and sometimes resemble an impregnable fortress. But danger can also arise inside the school in the form of aggression, violence and destructive behaviour by children and adolescents themselves. In recent years, new forms of aggressive behaviour have emerged, such as bullying in virtual space or cyberbullying. The extreme expression of aggression and cruelty has become cases of attacks on schools and mass violence by pupils. Aggression in the educational environment has long attracted the attention of domestic and foreign specialists, who are trying to understand its causes and find means of prevention. Our thematic issue of Modern Foreign Psychology is devoted to these problems.
