1. About electronic library of MSUPE
The electronic library of Moscow State University of Psychology and Education is an information management system designed for accumulation, holding and utilization of computer-based documents and publications in the sphere of psychology and related disciplines.
EL of MSUPE is primarily designed to provide an access to e-forms of learning materials and hard-to-get editions included into educational programs of the disciplines studied at the University. EL is supposed to be refilled with the following types of e-documents and editions:
- Electronic version of printed issues prepared by faculty and staff members of MSUPE in accordance with the program of publishing scientific and educational literature (scheduled editions).
- Electronic documents prepared by faculty and staff members of MSUPE to promote to the organization of the educational process in accordance with duty assignments (curricular, study-guide, etc.).
- Dissertation abstracts and dissertations defended in the Dissertation Council of MSUPE and handed over to the Fundamental Library of MSUPE in electronic form (dissertation abstracts and dissertations) in accordance with «Regulations on admission of dissertations into the library funds».
- Open stack electronic editions – full analogues of printed issues including texts of dissertation abstracts and dissertations defended earlier and approved by State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles.
- Electronic versions of printed editions recommended by faculty members of the university and placed in the electronic library with consent of the authors and confirmed by the agreements on transfer of copyrights.
- Electronic versions of techniques, tests and other psychodiagnostic tools systematized according to age relatedness and the object of investigation, which are placed in the electronic library with consent of the authors and confirmed by the agreements on transfer of copyrights.
- Video and audio aids prepared in accordance with duty assignments and representing lectures, seminars, conferences, illustrations of practice related work with children and methods of diagnostics.
2. Aims and objectives of EL of MSUPE
Aims of EL of MSUPE are as follows:
- Provision of accessibility to hard-to-get editions and documents.
- Improvement of quality and efficiency of service performance, extension of the list of services in the City Fundamental Library.
- Provision of access to information existing in e-form only.
- Integration of MSUPE’s information resources into the world information space through Internet.
3. Users of EL of MSUPE
Users of EL of MSUPE are:
- students and post-graduate students of MSUPE and other higher education institutions;
- staff members of MSUPE;
- staff members of higher education institutions;
- personnel of psychological, medical and social centers providing assistance to population.
4. Main principles
Main principles of EL of MSUPE:
- Materials for EL are selected with account of the needs of psychological education.
- Completeness of information presentation providing necessary and satisfactory ground for scientific research of students, post-graduate students and university professorate.
- Reproduction accuracy of the primary information.
- Availability of sophisticated functional options of users.
- Usage of standard and conventional ways of presenting and utilization of information.
- Friendly interface.
- Definition of any creation as a minimal independent information object.

7. Routing sections
There are six routing sections in the electronic library:
- About
- Contacts
- News
- Guestbook
- Blog
- Links
- Sitemap
Routing sections are subdivided into two types : static and dynamic.
The sections “About the project” and “Contacts” belong to static sections. Their function is to provide information.
Sections “News” and “Guestbook” are dynamic (or interactive) and need constant renewal. The “News” section contains announcements about the events inside the electronic library (about new publications on the site, about comments and reviews, etc.). “Guestbook” section is meant for comments, remarks, opinions and proposals of site visitors.
8. Users’ functional options
Software tools of the electronic library provide:
- users’ access to information;
- navigation in the total information resource;
- search for certain editions or set of editions according to attributes (author, title, date, etc.);
- key-word search in all the texts presented in the electronic library;
- successive, parallel, selective looking through the texts of separate editions;
- choice of user-defined part of information space;
- quick obtainment of referent and optional information;
- quick tuning of system parameters, installation of book marks, logging (journaling) of working session, etc.
